Virtual coffee morning raises €8,000 for charity

A virtual coffee morning organised by a family in Monageer raised €8,000 for Ronald McDonald House.

Rose-Marie and Colm O’Loughlin organise the fundraiser every year and while this year’s event was run in a virtual format they were delighted with the support it received from members of the local community in addition to their family and friends.
When their son, Darragh, was an in-patient in Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Rose-Marie and Colm were able to stay in Ronald McDonald House and be near him during what was a very difficult time.
Rose-Marie said they decided to begin the coffee morning as a way to say ‘thank you’ and to support other families in similar circumstances.

‘CMRF, the advances in cardiac medicine is hugely important to us [and] Darragh will need further surgery and intervention as he gets bigger and older,’ said Rose-Marie.
‘We hope to see continued research and development in this area,’ she added.
‘This year we decided to do a virtual coffee morning and set up an iDonate virtual fndraising page,’ she added.
‘Family, friends and supporters of these charities have been so generous and the money raised surpassed our expectations of €5,000 [and] the fundraising to-date has brought in a total of €8,000.’
